Die Cast Collectibles, What Are They?

Automobile manufactures, over the years, have created "specialty" automobiles expressly for a company's unique product promotion or advertising needs. Some of these specialty automobiles have been painstakingly replicated, in die cast miniature models. Today these die-cast automobiles are referred to as collectible autos because they are sought after by many collectors worldwide. Die cast collectible examples include: Campbell's soup delivery wagon, Hershey's chocolate delivery wagon, Checker Cab, Wonder Bread truck, Texaco Oil tow truck, Coca-Cola runabout, Texaco Inter-State Long Hauler, Chevrolet Suburban School Bus, and more. Diecast replicas of vintage autos, die cast replicas of autos produced in limited quantities, die-cast replicas of one-of-a-kind autos, replicas of antique autos and die cast models of auto manufactures products, who are no longer producing autos are all available in die-cast miniature. One point should be made, a die-cast car, diecast truck and die cast motorcycle is die-cast from metal not plastic, hence the name - die-cast.

Die-Cast Scale Model Explained.

Die cast collectibles, miniature cars, radio controlled automobiles, model cars, model motorcycles, model ships, etc., are scaled down replicas of an original item. A 1:18 scale die-cast collectible means that the die cast collectible is 1/18th the size of the original.  A 1:24 scale die-cast collectible means that the die cast collectible is 1/24th the size of the original. A 1:32 scale die-cast collectible means that the die cast collectible is 1/32nd the size of the original. A 1:43 scale die-cast collectible means that the die cast collectible is 1/43rd the size of the original. To further illustrate, a 1/18 scale die-cast collectible automobile means that roughly 18 die-cast automobiles would need to be stacked on top of each other and placed end-to-end to equal approximately the same size as the originally built automobile.
